Reporter Food: Augie’s Bar and Grill in Madison Heights
(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 4, 2021)
Madison Heights, MI – There are plenty of people who have memories of a longstanding Madison Heights watering hole called Augie’s Bar and Grill, including a certain reporter who donned a pretty red bridesmaid’s dress for a wedding reception held there years ago.
It continues to be a hot spot for sports fans, community members, and people looking for a feast of traditional bar food.
To get reacquainted, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and an order of Giggle Pickles.
Let’s start with those. Giggle pickles are slices of pickles, coated with breading, and fried for a crispy outside with a tangy center. The sandwich was breaded and fried as well, served on a soft warm bun slathered with mayo, with a helping of hand cut fries and special Augie’s seasoning.
Other menu items include Bang Bang Shrimp, Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders and Mac, the Bubba Burger, and options for building your own pizza. They have some dessert choices also, including the Decadent Brownie Sundae, Cinnamon Butter Knots, and Deep Fried Oreos. They have some salads too. Check out the full menu online at www.AugiesBar.com.
Augie’s is located at 31660 John R Road in Madison Heights, nearly half way between 13 Mile and 14 Mile.
