How to Submit a Community Group or Nonprofit Guest Story
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Feb. 27, 2021)
Oakland County Times is inviting readers to submit guest posts featuring a charity or community group that is meaningful to them.  You can be a volunteer, a staffer, administration, someone who uses services, or even just someone who supports the group’s efforts.
A list of compiled profiles can be found HERE.
The guest posts can be written in first person or third, and should talk about the organization and specific examples of how it makes a difference. Think about why you personally wanted to be involved, and examples of successes and special moments you have seen.
Here are a few examples:
FernCare Free Clinic
Hazel Park Girls on the Run
Huron Valley Council for the Arts
Royal Oak Nature Society
Troy Historic Village
Oakland Literacy Council
Aim for about 500 words, but this is flexible. Be sure to include relevant links and full names of people you include in the article. We reserve the right to turn down, submitted ideas or submissions, as well as to edit any we do publish. Don’t worry about being perfect, we work with writers of all skill levels to make your post the best it can be. This is a fun community project with no compensation.
These can be submitted any time.
Before you write, please message us at editor@oc115.com with your idea.
Thanks to everyone who participates in building this grassroots guide!
