Ferndale, MI – The Ferndale community is rallying behind a woman who lost her home in a fire on Feb. 6.
The blaze happened on E. Saratoga Street, leaving Donna and the three cats that were rescued without a home. There are other cats that are optimistically thought to have escaped.
“With the help of the Ferndale Cat Shelter, we are working on trapping them at this time. Any neighbors in the area are asked to keep their eye out and/or put out food in case,” said neighbor Laura Mendoza, who reached out to Donna to see what help she might need.
Mendoza organized a GoFundMe page on Donna’s behalf, and is also serving as the drop-off point for donations.
“Donna is happy to receive donations at this time such as household items, clothing, shoes, blankets, sheets, anything that one might think useful when starting over,” Mendoza told Oakland County Times. “Donna’s sizes are 8/10, M and shoe size 8.5/9.”
Donations can be dropped off at 1986 E. Saratoga Street. “Please put clothing in a plastic bag and any smaller items in boxes and leave at the front door. For larger items, please knock on the door,” she said.
The GoFundMe Page has raised $1,775 dollars as of Tuesday. To chip in visit GoFundMe.com.
