Reporter Food – Half Day Cafe in Rochester Hills

Rochester Hills, MI – It was a great day to check out Half Day Cafe in Rochester Hills. This tiny restaurant specializes in breakfast and lunch carryout, as well as catering.
I decided to try the Harvest Chicken Melt and the Caramelized Walnut, Goat Cheese and Arugula Salad. The sandwich had grilled chicken breast, roasted veggies, avocado, provolone, pesto, and Asiago cheese. This was a great way to get some veggies in. To make it even healthier I upgraded the fries to roasted veggies.  Yum.
I saved the salad for a wonderful dinner later. This had gourmet greens, arugula, caramelized walnuts, fresh tomato, crumbled goat cheese, fresh sliced strawberries, dried cherries & red onion.
There are lots of interesting choices at Half Day Cafe. For breakfast one could order “The Usual” which has two eggs, choice of meat, redskin potatoes and toast. But there are also creative choices like the Scramble #1 (avocado, goat cheese, and tomato), Scramble #2 (“all in” turkey sausage, breakfast potatoes, onions, Swiss & Cheddar), and Scramble #3 (baby spinach, bacon & feta).
For those with a sweet tooth,there are crepes, pancakes, and cinnamon french toast.
Sandwich-wise we might suggest the Manhattan (turkey breast, roast beef, bacon, cheddar and tomato with a horseradish mayo sauce), the California Thai Chicken (with a grilled chicken breast, Thai peanut sauce, shredded carrots, grilled onions, melted provolone cheese and crushed peanuts), or the Pappadew Pepper Wrap (sweet and slightly spicy Peppadew with crumbled feta, avocado, onions, artichokes, cucumbers, lettuce & tomato, served in spinach wrap). In addition to the Peppadew, there are several vegetarian options, including a spinach quiche.
