Suspect Drives into Doors of Bank, Arrested Wearing Bulletproof Gear and Gas Mask

On 02/02/21, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Bloomfield Township Police Department responded to the Level One Bank located at 6450 Telegraph Road on a 911 call.
The caller reported sounds of gunfire coming from outside the bank and that a silver SUV was involved.   Two Bloomfield Township Police Officers were on scene within seconds of the 911 call.  Officers observed a silver SUV with heavy front-end damage.  Officers witnessed the suspect running from the vehicle and quickly took him into custody without incident.  The suspect was wearing a bulletproof vest, gas mask and a bulletproof hat. The initial investigation revealed the suspect intentionally drove his silver SUV into the front doors of the bank.  No injuries reported.  The suspect attempted to pull away, but was unable to leave the parking lot due to the damage to his vehicle.
The 37-year-oldDetroit resident was placed under arrest for attempted Bank Robbery.   The suspect was transported to the Bloomfield Township Police Station.  Bloomfield Township Police Department is working in conjunction with the FBI on this incident.
