Suspect Wanted for Hit & Run of Officer Captured in Ferndale Following Chase

Highland Park, Ferndale, MI – According to Michigan State Police, their department was among those involved in a chase that began in Highland Park and ended in Ferndale.
On Jan. 14 at about 2:15am, “troopers heard Highland Park (HPPD) officers involved in a pursuit of a Ram truck that struck one of their officers. HPPD continued to purse the vehicle into the city of Ferndale where they eventually lost sight of it,” they said via Twitter. “A Metro North trooper spotted the suspect vehicle traveling east on 8 Mile Road in the westbound lanes near Woodward Ave. Troopers conducted a PIT maneuver on the vehicle ending the pursuit. The driver of suspect vehicle attempted to run but was taken into custody by the trooper.
“The front seat passenger remained in the truck and sustained non life threatening injuries. The driver was turned over to Highland Park Officers at the scene. The front seat passenger was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital for medical evaluation by EMS. Investigation into the pursuit continues by MSP. Any information about the original incident will be released by HPPD.”
Michigan State Police remained on scene to process the crash. Ferndale Police confirmed the crash but had no further details to add.
