Reporter Food: Zoe’s House of Pancakes
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 6, 2021)
Royal Oak, MI- There’s a new pancake place in town, filling the space left behind with the closure of Nello’s at Woodward Avenue and Lincoln in Royal Oak – Zoe’s House of Pancakes.
As the name suggests, Zoe’s specialty is pancakes – made with their “signature batter” just brimming with sweetness and golden butter flavoring. Flavors include White Chocolate Banana, Very Berry, Blueberry, Pumpkin, Oreo, Chocolate Chip and more.
I opted for the pineapple pancakes which were made with tidbits of pineapple in the mix and on top. It came with a bit of whipped cream and a buttery spread. Not only does Zoe’s have pancakes, they also have waffles, crepes, and savory items for breakfast and lunch.
For the sake of getting some veggies and protein in, I also ordered the Polish Skillet. This had two eggs with diced potatoes, little bits of Polish sausage, diced tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and green peppers, cooked in what I presume was the same buttery spread.
In addition to skillets, Zoe’s offers omelets with traveling themes. In the “Around the World” section there’s South of the Border (chili cheese), North of the Border (Canadian bacon, apples, cheddar), Little Italy, Spicy Spaniard and more. In the “All American” section there’s the Alaska’s Seaside (smoked salmon, cream cheese, onions), Wisconsin’s Dells (three cheese), and Hawaiian Luau (pineapple, ham, Swiss).
There are also soups, salads, burgers, and sandwiches.
Zoe’s is located at 25994 Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak. Find the full menu and more info at www.ZoesPancakes.com.
