Driver Survives Shooting After Bullet Goes Through Headrest

Pontiac, MI – Deputies responded to St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital located at 44405 Woodward Avenue on the report of a gunshot wound victim who had driven himself there at about 2:30 am Monday.
Deputies arrived at the Emergency Room and spoke with the victim. He stated that he had just left his Aunt’s house and while stopped at a red light at Pike Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard (MLK) he had heard multiple shots fired.
He fled the area and then realized that he was bleeding from the back of his head and drove himself to the hospital.  He stated he did not observe any subjects or vehicles around him at the time and does not know who would want to harm him.
The bullet, a .40 caliber, went through the car’s headrest before entering the back of his head. The victim is listed in stable condition.
The vehicle, a Ford EcoSport, sustained damage to the rear window and headrest.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  Deputies located multiple shell casings at Pike Street and MLK. An OCSO Evidence Technician processed the scene and the victim’s vehicle. Detectives arrived on the scene and began their investigation. The incident remains under investigation.

VICTIM INFORMATION:  20-year-old male, resident of Clinton Township
