Reporter Food: Fly Trap Restaurant in Downtown Ferndale
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 31, 2020)
Ferndale, MI- Those who are looking for sweet, warm winter comfort food might enjoy the Gingerbread Waffle from The Fly Trap Restaurant at 22950 Woodward Ave in Downtown Ferndale. It comes topped with fresh-cut apples, cherries and cinnamon syrup.
I recently had this sweet treat along with a BLAT+C Omelete which comes stuffed with pepper bacon, spinach, avocado, tomato, and cheddar. This came with freshly toasted sourdough and house-made mango jam, as well as diced potatoes cooked all crispy and delicious.
The Fly Trap serves breakfast and lunch items. Previously I’ve written about the Charmoula Chicken Sandwich and the Veggie Rumble. Other items include Huevos Rancheros, Crab Cakes and Eggs, Red Flannel Hash, salads like The Echo, the Hot Spot, and the Ensalada de Basura. Sandwich options include the Tempting Tempeh, the Red Chili Salmon Burger, the Pea Patch, and the E-Z Chi-Z.
The Fly Trap: A Finer Diner has been part of the Ferndale food scene since 2004, even making an appearance on the Food Network! Check out their menu and more at www.theflytrapferndale.com.
