Monica Hunt Appointed to Fill Royal Oak City Commission Vacancy

Royal Oak, MI- In a unanimous vote Monday evening, the Royal Oak City Commission voted to appoint Monica Hunt to fill the seat vacated by Randy LeVasseur who resigned due to relocating.
Ms. Hunt is an attorney with more than 15 years experience in employment, labor, contract and constitutional law. She is also a member of the Foster Care Review Board of the State of Michigan.
She has lived in Royal Oak for 13 years.
“My practice as an attorney has allowed me to evaluate issues from all sides and determine the best method of obtaining a successful resolution for my client. These skills will allow me to evaluate the issues that the citizens of Royal Oak face and assist with reaching an outcome that is best for the community,” Hunt said in her application for the position.  The top three challenges for the city, she wrote, are the impact of changing weather conditions on the city, diversity and inclusiveness, and economic development.
When asked why she wanted to serve, Hunt’s response was “Royal Oak is great place to live, and I believe that it is essential now, more than ever, to bring its citizens together to ensure that their voices are heard and that city leaders are informed of their concerns. My leadership and team building experiences will allow me to collaborate with city leaders to create a unified vision for the future of the city. My goal, as commissioner, is to find creative ways to bridge budget gaps, and strengthen our downtown to protect local businesses.”
