Birmingham Extends Free Parking in Municipal Garages through March 31
(City of Birmingham, Dec. 20, 2020)
The City of Birmingham continues to assist the community with operational and economic incentives in a COVID-19 environment, announcing that free contactless parking in the City’s five municipal garages is extended through March 31, 2021. Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the City’s parking structures, as well as throughout the downtown area and in city parks.
“We’re pleased to extend free parking in structures and offer additional relief for the community,” said Birmingham City Manager Joe Valentine. “Whether you’re visiting Birmingham for holiday shopping, picking up carry out or coming to work, our parking structures are contactless, convenient and free.”
For metered parking areas, the Birmingham Shopping District is offering free designated “5-Minute Buy and Fly” parking spaces throughout downtown for curbside pickups and quick trips to retailers and restaurants for carryout items. The community can also take advantage of contactless metered parking with the ParkMobile parking application. Drivers may register for free at www.parkmobile.com and use a mobile app, the internet, QR code, or call toll free at 800-280-4146 to pay for parking.
