Reporter Food: Bobcat Bonnies
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 19, 2020)
Ferndale, MI – Bobcat Bonnie’s has been making carryout easy and delicious, and they also have heated tent seating. I’ve gotten carryout a few times in recent weeks, and here are a couple of favorites!
First is the French Dip, made with sirloin steak, provolone, mushrooms, peppers, and onions on a hoagie with a side of beef au jus. I had mine with loaded tots, which come with cheese, bacon, green onions, and sour cream.
For dessert I had the Bonnie Brownie which comes with vanilla ice cream, bourbon caramel, and pretzel pieces for the top.
The next visit filled my need for a hearty, comforting meal with the BBQ Bacon Meatloaf. As the name suggests, this delightful meal has house made meatloaf topped with bbq sauce, bacon, and fried onions on a bed of mashed potatoes. The generous portions meant enough leftovers for the next day.
I also enjoyed an appetizer of Fried Goat Cheese. With this there are little balls of goat cheese served with honey, pepper, lemon zest, and naan bread. This snack of sweet and tangy flavors was a nice warmup for the spice of the main course.
There was even a cute thank you card in the bag, handwritten for the nice reminder of the people behind the “order online” screen.
Bobcat Bonnie’s also has carryout adult beverages including beer and cocktail selections like the Cucumber Mule, the Berry Mojito, the Mai Tai, and the Couvoisier Old Fashioned.
There are several locations in the Metro Detroit area. Find them all, along with the menus, online at http://www.bobcatbonnies.com/.
