Pharmacies in Ferndale Targeted by Burglars
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 8, 2020)
Ferndale, MI – Suspects are at large after a break-in at one pharmacy and an attempt at another in Ferndale.
According to Ferndale Police, the first robbery happened on Nov. 23 at 5:19am at Ferndale Foods at 600 W. Livernois.  “In that case, suspects pried open the front door, entered Ferndale Foods, and pried open Health Choice Pharmacy doors,” said Community Engagement Officer Jillian Mahlmeister.  “Suspects filled a trash bag with medication from the shelves. Suspects also went inside the Ferndale Foods office and stole cash tills and an empty safe.”
Today the owners of Ferndale Family Pharmacy at 753 W Nine Mile Rd  learned that an unsuccessful break in attempt had caused damage to their storefront.  Jumper cables and a fertilizer spreader were left at the scene.
Mahlmeiser told Oakland County Times, “Today’s incident was an attempted B&E. At 0537 hours, a red 2002 GMC Sierra backed into the Pharmacy window three times. Unsuccessful and left the area. The truck was stolen out of Eastpointe yesterday. So we do have any further leads at this time.”
There are no images of the suspects and it is unclear if the incidents are related.  This story will be updated if more information becomes available.
