Reporter Food: Too•Ra•Loo in Downtown Rochester
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 19, 2020)
Rochester, MI – After a nice long hike at Stony Creek Metropark, it was great to stop in at Too•Ra•Loo in Downtown Rochester for a carryout meal of pizza and salad to help refuel.
The Willy Burroughs Salad made with roasted beets, feta mousse, dukkah, pickled red onion, arugula, and honey Dijon dressing was a delightful choice, mixing a variety of textures and flavors.
Too•Ra•Loo also has a variety of Neapolitan-Style pizzas, including the Johnny P.
The Johnny P pizza comes topped with mozzarella, goat cheese, mushrooms, red onions, and pine nuts. The earthy tones of this gourmet thin-crust sauceless pizza went well with the beets and pickled red onions of the salad. It was an all-around good lunch.
Other pizza options include the Jessie Mack with pesto, mozzarella, tomatoes and chicken; the Belgian with mozzarella, Brussels sprouts, bacon, parm, and balsamic glaze; and the Viking with mozzarella, anchovies, onions, garlic, hot peppers, black and green olives and sriracha.
In addition to pizza, Too•Ra•Loo has burgers, sandwiches and more. The Chicken BBQ Wrap has fired chicken, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and bourbon BBQ sauce. And there’s a BLAT made with pecan smoked bacon, arugula, tomato, smashed avocado and harissa aioli on baguette.
There are small plates like mussels, steak tips, and nachos. And there are big plates like fish and chips, steak and potatoes, and spaghetti with meatballs.
Too•Ra•Loo is located at 139 S. Main Street in Rochester. Check out their full menu at https://tooraloorochester.com/.
