Nov. 23 – Clawson Schools Hosting Forum on Re-imagining School District’s Future
(Clawson Schools, Nov. 10, 2020)
Clawson, MI – In June 2020, the Board of Education authorized administration to begin planning for a bond issue to address a number of facility and equipment issues while exploring opportunities to upgrade technology and the education environment for the future of Clawson Schools. These issues range from significant underutilization of our facilities, end of life cycle for much of our facility infrastructure, and facility and equipment enhancements necessary to provide exceptional learning opportunities for our students. This also gives Clawson Schools the unique opportunity to re-imagine the future and determine how the next generation of students will engage, learn and thrive. The planning for a future bond consists of stakeholder involvement including a Bond Steering Committee of over 40 members comprised of a cross section of our community including parents, teachers, students, ancillary staff, community members, business owners and city leaders. If passed, a bond could generate approximately $50 million without an increase in taxes.
The Steering Committee, administration and our consultants have been meeting on a regular basis to re-imagine the future of Clawson Public Schools and have developed several initial concepts for consideration and are in the process of narrowing it down to one potential concept. This concept will be presented at a Community Forum on Monday, November 23, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Due to COVID-19, this will be a virtual meeting.
