Reporter Food: Rebecca’s Restaurant in Downtown Northville
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 18, 2020) Northville, MI- If you like trains and airplanes, then dining in may be a good option at Rebecca’s Restaurant in Downtown Northville, though there is outside seating as well.
I got to experience both during my recent visit. If it weren’t for a pesky yellowjacket, I might have not even caught the unique inside decor.
I started with an outside seat, a perk many were taking advantage of due to Northville closing the streets to allow for more seating. It was nice sitting out in the open air on a beautiful day, sipping on a brown cow – which is a blend of root beer and vanilla ice cream.
For brunch I had the Greek Omelet made with tomatoes, onions, feta cheese, and gyro meat with a side of homemade cucumber sauce. It came served with toast.  This omelette was a rather unique way to start the day, and I really enjoyed these traditional Greek items being made into a breakfast.
Unfortunately a wasp just would not leave me alone, as happens in the fall. The wait staff moved me as requested and it was no big deal at all.  Once inside I was amazed by the collection of eclectic items that decorate the small space. Model airplanes hang from the ceiling, and there’s a train track built up high on the walls so customers can look up at it as it passes.
The restaurant also has an ice cream parlor with a display of many flavors, and a giant fish tank doubles as a place to write daily specials.
Some other interesting items include the Cran Apple Omelet, Spinach and Mushroom Breakfast Croissant, and the Lumberjack Special (Three eggs, choice of potato, two pieces of bacon and sausage, one slice of ham, and toast). There’s an entire page dedicated to their “from the griddle” pancakes, including Sweet Potato Pancakes, Blueberry Crunch, and Strawberry Banana.
There’s also a robust menu of lunch items, including house-made soup, Teriyaki Chicken Wrap, Classic Grilled Cheese, Tuna Salad Sandwich, Chicken Crisp Pita, and Turkey Avocado Baguette.
Rebecca’s Restaurant is located at 134 North Center Street in Downtown Northville. Find out more at https://rebeccasnorthville.com/.
