Reporter Food: Jack’s Roadside BBQ
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 24, 2020)
Clarkston, MI – Right on Dixie Hwy just south of Rattalee Lake Road in Clarkston is a pop up food truck that made it’s debut earlier this year.  Jack’sRoadside BBQ has all the barbecue basics including pulled pork, brisket, jerk chicken, and ribs that come served wet or dry.
This lovely selection of meat is served many ways – as part of a rice bowl, in a sandwich, served on loaded mac and cheese, or piled atop loaded fries.
I tried both the pulled pork sandwich and the loaded fries with brisket, and both were amazing! The smoky flavor of the pulled pork was undeniable. Just wow. The brisket on the fries was also the best I’ve ever had, with the delicate, rich meat nearly melting along with the slightly spicy cheese sauce.
Creator Trevor Aronson is quoted on their menu, saying  “Growing up I always had a passion for food (especially bbq). I believe it stems from all the travels I did with my father (Jack) when I was younger. He would take us down to Arkansas every year to visit family. During the trip, we stopped at many roadside bbq joints to eat. That’s when I fell in love with bbq. I hope you enjoy our little bbq joint. We take great pride in what we do.”    Trevor’s father, Jack, is known as the creator of Garden Fresh Salsa, as well as other foodie ventures like Clean Planet Foods.
In addition to the roadside spot, catering is available. Check for the latest hours, and more info at https://jacksroadsidebbq.business.site/.  Find the shiny black truck in the parking lot of 10063 Dixie Hwy, Clarkston, MI 48348 and enjoy!
