Reporter Food: Matt & Mo’s Italian Beef at Doug’s Delight

Hazel Park, MI – After a nice morning stroll around Hazel Park, lunch was an obvious choice.  Matt & Mo’s Italian Beef is served up at Doug’s Delight, a seasonal ice cream shop with very savory side.
Located at 24110 John R Rd, Doug’s Delight was revived in 2018 after being shuttered for several years.  Since it’s revival it’s continued to refine their menu and business, most recently with their meaty Matt & Mo’s partnership.
Matt & Mo’s offers a homemade Italian beef sandwich, an Italian sausage sandwich, and a Caprese sandwich. Each is served on thick, amazing, flavorful garlic bread, and there are choices for the saturation of Au jus.  The sausage and the beef were both rich with flavor.
French fries, sweet potato waffle fries, toasted four cheese ravioli are available for sides. There’s also a nice selection of ice cream items. I opted for a banana split.  This glorious mix of childhood-favorite flavors – strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, banana, whipped cream, chopped nuts, pineapple syrup, and maraschino cherries on top – was a delicious mess served up in a boat-shaped tub with a long-handled spoon.
There are sundaes, slushies and soft serve. Their signature dessert is the Dougie, which is soft serve blended with a choice of toppings. Plus they’ve got scoops of locally-made Guernsey Farms Ice Cream.
