Holly Comes Together for Independence Day Parade
(July 6, 2020)
Holly, MI- Some called it a late Memorial Day Parade, while it took place on July 4 and was promoted as such. Either way the Village of Holly was not going to let a summer pass without a parade filled with a red, white, and blue celebration of America.
Veterans, politicians, kids’ groups, and decorated horses were among those who marched along Maple and Park Streets with a grand finale of police and fire vehicles. The high school marching band could not assemble due to COVID-19, though members of the Holly Youth Choir were on hand to sing the Star Spangled banner at a ceremony at Lakeside Cemetery following the parade. Girl Scouts handled the raising of the flag, and scholarships were awarded to local students by the VFW.
