Four Royal Oak Parks Getting New Fall Zone Material
(City of Royal Oak, July 6, 2020)
Royal Oak, MI – Fulton, Sullivan, Huntington Woods, & Wendland parks are scheduled for improvements. The city’s contractor (American Athletix LLC) will be replacing mulch below the playground equipment with a concrete border and rubber surface. The poured-in-place rubber will provide a durable, low-maintenance, impact-absorbing fall zone material.
Site work will once again commence this week. Portions of each park will be closed during construction for safety purposes.
The scope of the project will be limited to the parks and is not expected to affect access to adjacent residential or commercial properties. During construction, there may be intermittent parking restrictions to allow for construction equipment to gain access to the parks. If needed, “No Parking – Tow Away Zone 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.” signs will be posted well in advance to allow for various construction operations.
There will be no change in the trash pickup dates and the trash will be taken care of as usual during the construction operations unless otherwise notified by the city.
These projects are being funded exclusively through the city’s community development block grant allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
