Ferndale Pride Selling Shirts to Support LGBTQ Causes
(Ferndale Pride, July 4, 2020)
Ferndale, MI – Ferndale Pride has shifted its fundraising efforts, announcing a limited edition t-shirt, tank, and sweatshirt option to raise funds.
Pride is the largest fundraiser for the Ferndale Community Foundation. Each year Foundation grants funds to local non-profits. Over the last 9 years, Foundation has distributed more than $200,000 to area organizations. “
This year we are struggling to get the funding necessary to give out the big checks that the community has relied on. I have filed grants but the process is slow and we are waiting for replies,” stated Director Julia Music.
Not one to rest when it comes to raising funding, Music turned to local and national vendors to help close the funding gap.
Last month Pride announced a home decorating contest. Folks from all over Oakland County submitted pictures of their homes. Winners received free meals at Hero or Villain food truck.
In order to help people decorate Pride offered a variety of flags for sale. Pride will continue to sell flags to help with fundraising and provide this service to the community. Nearly 200 flags were sold during pride month, raising just shy of $2,000 for Ferndale Pride and Foundation.
Now, Ferndale Pride has launched limited edition t-shirts, tank, and sweatshirt through the national brand Bonfire.
“We only have 21 days to sell! We have to move quickly,” Music said. “We appreciate every order and hope to be able to keep offering easy ways to make purchases that benefit our communities.”
