CNS Healthcare Awarded $4 Million Grant to Support Mental Health Services
(CNS, May 28, 2020)
Detroit, Novi, Waterford, Pontiac and Southfield – CNS Healthcare, a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), was awarded 4 million dollars to provide mental health and substance use disorder services in Michigan, expanding a previous CCBHC grant awarded in October 2018.  Services are provided to children (7-17) and adults (18+) that are uninsured, underinsured or underserved.
According to CNS Healthcare’s Chief Medical Officer, Michele Reid, MD, “the timing of this expansion grant coincides with the Coronavirus epidemic which has resulted in dramatically increased unemployment and loss of loved ones.  We expect there will be more people who need care. The CCBHC expansion grant will allow us to expand our reach and provide services to children adolescents adults and older adults with a special focus on veterans, the LGBTQ and Native American populations.”
Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use Elinore F. McCance-Katz, MD, PhD, the head of SAMHSA, adds “the community clinics supported by SAMHSA have an established track record of connecting Americans with serious mental illness to the treatment they need. The coronavirus pandemic substantially increases the need for these comprehensive services.”
During the uncertainty of this pandemic, it is vital to monitor and seek treatment for mental health and substance use disorders.  The stress and isolation of this time can take a toll on children, adults, and older adults alike. Take care of yourself and family members, paying attention to signs like extreme changes in mood, sleeping or eating patterns, or irritability, lasting longer than two weeks.  As the only CCBHC in the city of Detroit, an area hit hard by the coronavirus, CNS Healthcare is here to provide support to your family.
Services are based on medical necessity and may include telehealth, therapy, evaluation and medication management, case management, peer support, crisis services, medication assisted treatment, and more.  CNS Healthcare is committed to providing medically necessary mental health services to those in need, regardless of location or ability to pay.
