Elks Gratitude Grant Helps Ferndale Fire Dept.
(Ferndale Elks, May 26, 2020)
The Ferndale Elks #1588 lodge officers and members visited local 812, Ferndale Fire Department on May 13th, delivering a check for $2,500.
Gratitude Grants ranging from $2,000 to $3,000 are the Elks National Foundation’s way of saying “thank you” to the community.  The grants are tailored to assist local communities, food banks, and to provide a relief to the emergency responders, including firefighters.  And the Ferndale lodge secured a $2,500 grant for the Ferndale Fire department.  The funds will be used to acquire the supply of personal protective equipment and whatever else is required to perform at times difficult duties of EMR and firemen.
Oscar Renautt was among the members who made the presentation.  “This is two Ferndale’s longtime organizations, focused on charity and well-being of the community, helping each other in challenging times, and upholding each other when the times are great,” he said. “Truly a sense of brotherhood and mutual respect.”
While the Elks clubhouse has been closed, the group has been meeting online. Some members also brought attention to the group with their social distance inflatables parade.  Learn more about this community-service minded social group at http://www.elks1588.com/.
