Rochester Teen Arrested for Thefts from Cars, Stolen Handgun

Oakland Township, MI- On April 13 at 23:38 hrs, Deputies responded to a residence in the 3400 block of Sussex Drive on the report of a suspicious person. The caller reported seeing someone on her surveillance camera standing near her vehicle which was parked in the driveway. Deputies responded to the area and located a suspicious vehicle on a neighboring street and initiated a traffic stop.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: Deputies inquired as to why the suspect was in the area. The suspect was unable to provide a plausible answer. Upon investigating, Deputies located a stolen handgun inside of the suspect’s vehicle along with other items which appeared to be recently stolen. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and transported to the Substation to speak with a Detective. The subject, subsequently, admitted to breaking into multiple vehicles. The recovered handgun was returned to its registered owner. The driver was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges. Detectives will be continuing with the investigation.
