County Shares City by City Data on Coronavirus Cases
(Crystal A Proxmire, March 30, 2020)
Pontiac, MI – Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter announced Monday afternoon a dashboard feature that allows residents to see the number of COVID-19 Coronavirus cases per city.
The map can be seen at https://www.oakgov.com/covid.
The map will be updated each evening.  Darker areas have more cases.
Coulter cautioned that “It is not an indication of the safety in a community,” stating that numbers are also a reflection of access to testing and access to healthcare  “This is in every community,” he said  “Stay at home and take the precautions we have spoken about.”
Coulter said that as of Monday there are 1391 cases, ranging in age from 14 days old to 97 years old.  There have been 59 deaths, with those ranging in age from 36-92 years old.  Just yesterday there were 29 deaths.
“This is going to be a tough week,” he said.  “The numbers we see now are people who are impacted a week to ten days ago… We doubled our deaths since last week, we’re going to see the numbers rise this week and we need to be ready for that.. The numbers and the capacity for our health systems make me think this is going to be the most challenging week yet.”
Oakland County continues to collect donations of masks, face shields and other medical necessities.  There is need for over 200,000 face masks and 230 more ventilators.  Over 40,000 masks have already been donated   Here is info on what items are needed and how to donate them.
