(Crystal Proxmire March 17, 2020)
Detroit, MI – The City of Detroit released the following statement Tuesday morning:
“Due to the driver shortage, there will be no DDOT bus service today. We apologize for the inconvenience and will provide updates as we can.”
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan told WDIV there were concerns over the number of people in a closed space, concern of cleanliness, and concern that drivers lost their break spots which were often at restaurants and hospitals along their routes.
The SMART bus system continues to operate, although as of Tuesday morning the SMART transit centers in Royal Oak and Detroit are closed.
