April 2 – Photographer Joseph Ferraro at Ferndale Library

Ferndale, MI – Joseph Ferraro is a macro photographer walking the naturalist’s path, documenting native pollinators and other invertebrates. A new exhibition at the Ferndale Library features Ferraro’s beautiful and meticulous examinations of some of the smallest (and often very integral) beings inhabiting our planet. On Thu., Apr. 2 at 6pm  the library’s Art & Exhibitions Committee will host a reception where you can meet the artist; the works can be viewed starting Mar. 16 and will be on display through May 10.

“Over time,” Ferraro said, “I have also developed a subtle style that viewers find familiar, aesthetically raising these photos beyond what a scientist would typically document and display. At the same time, these images highlight the natural beauty of the subjects, pushing past the viewers’ aversions to most insects, inspiring them to appreciate their beauty.”

Ferndale Area District Library is located at 222 E 9 Mile Rd, Ferndale, Michigan 48220.
