Boxes and Spilled Balls Stop Traffic on I-75
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Feb. 23, 2020)
Auburn Hills, MI- Auburn Hills Police stopped traffic on I-75 late Saturday night after someone transporting boxes of balls lost their load on the busy expressway.
Hundreds of orange and white plastic balls were strewn across the pavement, making driving dangerous. Pictures show that least eight boxes were found and moved to the shoulder.
Auburn Hills Police posted about the incident on their Facebook page, stating “**Just a friendly reminder** If you’re traveling anywhere with cargo, not only does the law require you to secure it but the safety of everyone on the road depends on it. Our officers had to stop all lanes of I-75 to clear the debris and will be out here for a while disposing of all the garbage. If this was your cargo, your help collecting it now might just mitigate the tickets you will receive later.”
The driver did not stick around, however the balls were branded with a company logo that police may be able to track either to the company or to the manufacturer.
