Interview Dates Set, Public Invited to Meet Royal Oak City Manager Candidates

Royal Oak, MI – The Royal Oak City Commission has finalized the remaining steps in the recruitment process for its city manager search. There will be two rounds of public interviews and an opportunity for the public to interact with the candidates. City employees will also be provided specific time to meet the candidates.
First interviews will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 22 starting at 9:00 a.m. in the Royal Oak City Hall commission chambers, 211 S. Williams Street, Royal Oak. A second round of interviews is planned for Thursday, March 12 for candidates selected by the city commission following the Feb. 22 interviews.
Candidates for the Feb. 22 public interviews are:
Jane Bais DiSessa – Deputy Mayor, City of Pontiac, Michigan
Paul J. Brake – City Manager, City of Morgantown, West Virginia
Reid “Shea” Charles – Interim CEO, Michigan Municipal Service Authority
Sheryl L. Mitchell – City Administrator, City of Lathrup Village, Michigan
Erik D. Tungate – City Manager, City of Oak Park, Michigan
A “Meet the Candidates” community event is scheduled for March 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Royal Oak City Hall, 211 S Williams Street, Royal Oak, MI 48067. This event is open to the public and community members are encouraged to attend. Comment cards will be available at the event for attendees wishing to provide feedback to the commission regarding the second-round candidates. The city will also host opportunities for its employees to interact with the second-round candidates on March 12.
The commission will start the formal second-round candidate interviews on March 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the City of Royal Oak commission chambers following the “Meet the Candidates” event.
All interviews are open to the public and community members are welcome to attend. Both rounds of interviews will be video recorded and will be posted online after each round has been completed.
