Party at Airbnb in Royal Oak Ends with Gunfire, Police Seek Info
(Royal Oak Police, Feb. 17, 2020)
Royal Oak, Mi- On Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 11:48 p.m., the Royal Oak Police Department received numerous 911 calls reporting multiple gunshots in the area of Pingree and Virginia.
Officers immediately responded and conducted traffic stops on several vehicles fleeing the area. One driver, 20-year-old resident of Clinton Township, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and in possession of a stolen firearm.
Officers set up an area perimeter and discovered this incident originated from a large party taking place at a home on the 400 block of Pingree. The house was rented though Airbnb, with a planned party posted on social media. Over 20 people were still in the home when officers arrived, but no one from the party would cooperate with officers in any substantial way.
At this time, no victims have been identified.
This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should immediately contact the Royal Oak Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at (248) 246-3456.
