Madison Heights Man Charged with Ethnic Intimidation in “KKK” Graffiti Case

Madison Heights, MI – On Monday October 14th, 2019 the Madison Heights Police Department (MHPD) was notified that the business, Octapharma Plasma, located at 401 E. 13 Mile had been a victim of a malicious destruction of property complaint. The business was found to have spray paint on several areas of the outside of the building which included racial slurs and references to the “KKK”.
A press release and photo was distributed of the wanted suspect. A person of interest was developed when a MHPD patrol officer observed a subject matching the suspect’s description and who was wearing the same unique sweatshirt as the suspect at the time of the incident. Detectives followed up and linked this suspect to the crime.
On January 23rd, 2020 MHPD arrested the suspect in this case. On January 24th, 2020, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office authorized criminal charges including one misdemeanor count of Malicious Destruction of Property and one felony count of Ethnic Intimidation.
On January 25th, 2020 the suspect was arraigned at the Madison Heights 43rd District Court and was given a $3,000 personal bond. The next court date is set for February 5th at 8 am.
The suspect was identified as 43 year old Madison Heights resident Marc Stephen Porzondek.
