Arrest Made in 2014 Hit and Run That Injured Teen on Bicycle in Oakland Twp

Oakland Township, MI- The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit recently secured a felony warrant on a hit and run case (CR#14-154144) from 2014 which left an 18-year-old Oakland County resident severely injured.
On September 28, 2014, two teenage bicyclists were traveling northbound near the intersection of Rochester Road and Romeo Road in Oakland Township, when they were struck by a grey SUV according to several witnesses. The suspect’s vehicle then fled the scene.
The OCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to begin the investigation. Deputies were able to collect a small amount of evidence from the scene, which included a piece of a fog lamp left behind by the suspect’s vehicle.
Deputies continued their investigation but were unable to identify the suspect or vehicle at the time of the incident.
Investigators continued to research automotive registration records and followed up on tips which were received. Recently, a Deputy from the Unit was able to present enough evidence to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office to secure a one count felony warrant.
The suspect, Brent Jospeh Addelia, a 53-year-old resident of Lapeer, was arrested by Deputies on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Addelia is currently being held at the Oakland County Jail on one felony count of leaving the scene of a serious injury accident. He was arraigned and given a $75,000 cash surety bond. The victim in this case, now 23, has made a full recovery from injuries sustained in the incident.
