Berkley Firefighters Save Resident from Burning Home

Berkley, MI – On 1-7-20, at approximately 12:15 PM, Berkley DPS responded to Cummings south of Webster on a house fire with an occupant trapped in the home.
The first unit arrived at the scene within a minute and found fire and smoke showing from the first floor and smoke showing from the second floor.
The occupant was located at a second floor window. BDPS personnel immediately a initiated a rescue operation using a ground ladder to gain access to the second floor, removed the occupant, and carried her down the ladder to safety. She was treated by BDPS personnel and Alliance Mobile Health personnel at the scene before being transported to Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak with non life threatening injuries. Berkley DPS personnel, along with personnel from Huntington Woods DPS, Beverly Hills DPS, and Oak Park DPS extinguished the fire.
