Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Troy
TROY, MI – On December 27 at approximately 1:30 pm, Troy police officers were alerted to a bank robbery that had just occurred at the Fifth Third Bank, 2282 W. Big Beaver Road. An officer on patrol in the area located a subject matching the suspect description walking down the street and subsequently arrested him without incident. The stolen money was found on the subject.
Richard Philip Cushard, a 53 year old from Pontiac, was charged with armed robbery and bank robbery. Cushard was arraigned on December 29 and was denied bond.
Cushard entered the bank wearing a hoodie with the hood up, approached a teller, demanded money and told the teller he had a gun. Cushard reportedly took a bus to the area of the bank and planned to flee via a bus. No gun was seen during the robbery or recovered by officers.
