Reporter Food: West Bloomfield BLT at CityScape Deli
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 27, 2019)
Bloomfield Hills, MI- I’ve never had a BLT before, and in discussing my dislike of tomatoes a friend suggested that the best way to enjoy one was on a really good BLT. The best, they had said, was the West Bloomfield BLT at the CityScape Deli at the corner of Long Lake and Telegraph in Bloomfield Hills.
Well. They were right. Crispy freshly fried bacon with perfectly fresh lettuce and a nice meaty tomato with luxurious mayonnaise on toast with American cheese was pretty amazing.
I also had the CityScape Health Slaw which was made from shredded cabbage and veggies in a light, tangy vinegar-based dressing. To balance out the healthy stuff, I had a slice of lemon meringue pie and I picked up a box of gluten free cookies made by Rumi’s Passion in Plymouth for later.
CityScape’s motto is “Building Bloomfield’s Finest Sandwiches,” and their menu has many to chose from. There’s the Tiger Stadium Club made with turkey, provolone, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo. Or the Bloomfield’s County Club made with grilled chicken breast, artichoke hearts, tomato, Havarti cheese, lettuce, and roasted red pepper burschetta. Other popular options include the Joe Louis, the Cranbrook’s Corned Beef, the Renaissance Reuben and The Silverdome Sandwich.
There are salads too, including the Scoop Salad which has a scoop of tuna, chicken, or egg salad on a bed of romaine with pickles, tomatoes, and red onions.
The restaurant is perfect for carry out as well as ample room for dining in. Plus there’s a beautiful mural that reflects the deli’s name – showcasing the Detroit skyline.
CityScape Deli is located at 877 W Long Lake Rd in Bloomfield Hills. Learn more at www.cityscapedeli.com.
