Reporter Food: Alex’s of Berkley

Berkley, MI – A quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County would not be complete without Alex’s in Berkley.
A few weeks ago, when the street was lined with beautiful fall-colored trees, I stopped in for a lunch of stuffed cabbage served with mashed potatoes and a vegetable which turned out to be peas.  It also came with cole slaw.
The stuffed cabbage was full of rice and ground meat. Both that and the potatoes were topped with a thin tomato sauce.
Alex’s has has a menu full of family dining options, including burgers, wraps, salads, and breakfast. There are Greek specialties like shish kabob, gyro platter, and spinach pie. For Italian cuisine they offer veal Parmesan, baked mostaccioli, ravioli and more. And the “Alex’s favorites” section includes Virginia baked ham, oven baked chicken, vegetable stir fry and baked meatloaf dinner.
