Southfield Launches SeeClickFix App for Residents to Report Issues
Southfield, MI – The city of Southfield has partnered with SeeClickFix to launch a new platform SeeClickFix Southfield that enables residents to directly report quality-of-life issues and request city services. With the free SeeClickFix mobile app and web tools, Southfield residents and businesses can now provide city staff with pictures, descriptions and locations to report and track issues with ease.
“The new SeeClickFix app and web tool will go a long way to help Southfield residents and businesses to quickly and efficiently report issues to the city,” commented Mayor Ken Siver. “Moreover, this technology will assist both the city and the community to continue to track and monitor the issue from reporting to resolution. This new interactive tool–combined with the City’s comprehensive new website–will greatly improve transparency, communication and coordination of city service delivery.”
This partnership not only allows Southfield residents and businesses to report problems, but also to view, comment on, and vote to fix problems submitted by their neighbors. Citizens can even create their own “watch areas” to receive notifications about all the issues reported in their community, enabling them to follow the progress of all service requests — not just the ones they report.
The SeeClickFix Southfield mobile app is available for download on Android at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seeclickfix.ma.android&hl=en_US and iPhone at: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/seeclickfix/id322000552. In addition to the mobile apps, citizens can send reports directly to the City of Southfield website at www.cityofsouthfield.com and http://www.seeclickfix.com.
The city of Southfield also launched a comprehensive new municipal website on August 1 in conjunction with SeeClickFix. The new Southfield website is still located at the same web address, www.cityofsouthfield.com. The new Southfield website is more user-friendly, offering improved navigation and detailed information in a quick and convenient format. The many new features of the site will include transitioning to the more stable Drupal platform, responsive web design, numerous new photos and videos, more online services as well as many new downloadable or fillable City forms and applications. The new website is completely mobile and tablet friendly, allowing users to fully access information on the go. The City’s previous website remained fully functional prior to the August 1 launch of the new site.
About SeeClickFix
SeeClickFix was founded in 2008 to empower citizens with tools to publicly document quality of life concerns in their neighborhoods. By radically improving the quantity and quality of this data, SeeClickFix was quickly adopted by local governments, who needed a better way to receive information from citizens.
This exchange helped to build one of the largest neighborhood networks in the world — upon which public agencies and public citizens engage to improve communities. Today, SeeClickFix has official partnerships with hundreds of cities, engaging hundreds of thousands of citizens in the resolution of millions of issues.
SeeClickFix has worked with government partners to develop municipal management tools on top of this citizen network. As SeeClickFix is adopted into the everyday lives of government users, the benefit of the engaged citizen base continues to grow.
