Dec. 10 – Baldwin Library Cookie Exchange

Dec. 10 – Baldwin Library Cookie Exchange

Birmingham, MI -Every year in November and December the Library’s dessert, cookie, and holiday cookbooks fly off the shelves. Patrons rely upon them to plan desserts for family celebrations, work functions, and more. Those wishing to join the cookie baking enthusiasm are welcome to participate in the Library’s Holiday Cookie Exchange on Tuesday, December 10, at 7:00 p.m.

“Our Cookbook Club members suggested doing a Holiday Cookie Exchange a few years ago and it was so much fun that we just had to keep continuing with the tradition,” says Maria Williams, Head of Adult Services. “Patrons remember each other from the event and associate them with the treat they brought. They might remember how good someone’s sugar cookies were, then they trade emails and recipes, and maybe even become friends. Events like these are just one of many ways the Library helps community members to build connections with one another. And of course, the cookies are fantastic!”

Patron Andrew Wu says, “I really enjoyed the Baldwin Library’s cookie exchange because it was so much fun to meet fellow Baldwin patrons while enjoying some delicious cookies!” Participants like Andrew contribute treats of all flavors, styles, and levels of difficulty. Some use family recipes and some choose a recipe from a cookbook or one of the Library’s many food magazines. This year’s cookie exchange has expanded its scope to include teen and youth patrons.

Registration for the cookie exchange is required by December 4. Every attendee will need to bake at least 6 treats for fellow participants to take home. To register for the Holiday Cookie Exchange, visit the Library’s website at, or call 248-554-4650.
