Holiday Gift Ideas: Rust Belt Market
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 27, 2019)
Ferndale, MI – Holiday shopping season is soon to begin, and small businesses across Oakland County are gearing up for Small Business Saturday.
The Rust Belt Market, at the corner of Nine Mile and Woodward in Downtown Ferndale is hosting “Skip the Mall Shop Small,” featuring dozens of local creative vendors, along with hosting Downtown Ferndale’s Shop Small Swag Headquarters for Small Business Saturday. Plus there will be a DJ.
The Rust Belt Market is the creation of of the Best family,  and if you visit The Plant Shop towards the front of the market you’ll find an oasis of nature created by co-owner Tiffany Best.  Rust Belt has been a longtime sponsor of Oakland County Times.
There are over 50 vendors in Rust Belt Market, selling everything from clothes and jewelry, to found items, posters, games, toys, plants, personal care items, candles, snacks and more.  There is a bar so shoppers can sip and shop, and a tank of poison dart frogs can provide a moment of distraction from the bustle of the holiday shopping crowd.
Among the vendors is Detroit GT, with shirts, hats, buttons, stickers and more, usually with a local – sometimes funny – theme. Oakland County Times recently profiled Detroit GT creator Chris Gorski about his work.  Fly K9 and Je’Tone Cherene’s pet-wear creations were also featured. As well as Attack Hunger, a business with cool shirts and a cause.
Below are just some of the many delights to be found inside this unique artist’s market. Find our more  at www.RustBeltMarket.com.
There are many other fun happenings and deals throughout Downtown Ferndale; check those out here.  Shoppers anywhere in Oakland County are invited to enter a contest to win $5,000.  And we invite you to check out our Event Page, and our Advertising page to see what other small businesses you might want to keep in mind.
