Man without ID Fatally Struck While Crossing John R on Mobility Scooter
(Troy Police, Nov. 15, 2019)
Troy, MI- A man operating a personal mobility scooter in the roadway, on John R near Isabell, was killed last night when he was hit by a 2005 Ford Taurus. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The operator of the scooter was transported from the scene by Alliance Mobile Health to Troy Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly afterward.
The scooter operator was crossing improperly, and was not within a crosswalk at the time of the incident. The deceased was not in possession of identification and has not yet be identified
The driver of the Taurus was uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Neither alcohol or drugs are believed to be factors for the driver.
John R was closed for approximately 2.5 hours for the investigation.
