Reporter Food: The Family Table Cafe in Auburn Hills
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 12, 2019)
Auburn Hills, MI- It’s hard not to fall in love with Downtown Auburn Hills, with their thoughtfully planned out public spaces, interesting new growth, and walkabilty.
And arriving very early one morning before a meeting, it was also hard not to love the way the bright lights inside The Family Table Cafe illuminated the window in the strip that was otherwise still dark and sleepy.
The earliest risers of the town know where to fill their bellies with delicious breakfast options.  The Family Table Cafe serves breakfast and lunch, with a variety of items for each.  I had the Wild Mushroom omelette with portabella and cap mushrooms, green onion, and cream cheese.
This delicious omelette was served with perfectly crispy on the top parmasean grits and warm toasted slices of cinnamon raisin bread with melted butter.
Other omelette options include traditional favorites and some unique creations like the pesto, roasted tomato and mozzarella, and apple white cheddar.  Ricotta and raspberry French toast also sounded tempting. As did the avocado eggs Benedict, and the bagel and lox.
Family Table Cafe also serves lunch, with a variety of inspired items like the balsamic chicken strawberry caprese, the honey and apple grilled cheese, and the veggie taco. Don’t worry, they’ve got the good old fashioned greasy stuff too, like the chicken bacon ranch quesadilla, a menu section of burgers, and tater tots among the sides. There is also a bakery worth checking out.
Family Table Cafe is located at 3343 Auburn Rd Auburn Hills, MI 48326.  Check them out online at www.familytablecafe.com.
