Reporter Food: Megatron Burger at House of Shamrocks
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 6, 2019)
Hazel Park, MI – Back in the warm days of summer I met a friend for lunch at House of Shamrocks at 23420 John R Rd in Hazel Park, and these juicy pictures have been waiting patiently to be part of the Oakland County Times Reporter Food column since then.
This was a fun one to look back on.  House of Shamrocks has this gigantic creation called the Megatron Burger.  It’s half a pound of Angus Beef topped with smoked bacon, a fried egg, American cheese, Swiss cheese, lettuce, onion, pickle, mayo and ketchup on a grilled sesame seed bun.  It was pretty amazing.
My friend had a burger as well, except without a bun.  Their Shamrock Burger was topped with corned beef, cole slaw, 1,000 Island, grilled onions, and Swiss.
They had theirs with a nice sized pile of crispy golden hash browns, while I opted for the salad (iceberg lettuce topped with shredded cheese and diced tomatoes).
House of Shamrocks is a sports bar with an Irish theme, with plenty of green decor and Jameson Irish Whiskey graphics on the tables.  The neighborhood knows this bar, as they host events, have live music and Karaoke, and of course are a great spot to catch the game.
