Ferndale Voters Pick Piana, Bruner-James, Leaks-May, and Mikulski to Lead

Ferndale, MI – Melanie Piana has been selected as Ferndale’s next Mayor, with Kat Bruner James joining incumbent Raylon Leaks-May for a four year council term, and Laura Miulski for the two year term.
Piana, who resigned from her position on City Council earlier this year in order to run, topped Brian Stawowy with nearly 2/3 of the votes. 2,877 people (65.84%) selected Piana, while 1,463 (33.48%) voted for Stawowy. There were 30 unassigned write-ins.
For the four year council race, Kat Bruner James got 2,344 votes. Leaks-May got 1,986. They will have the two seats. Nada Daher had 1,464 votes, Augusto “Mike” Flores got 1,147, Ben Buttolph got 961 and there were 35 unassigned write-ins.
For the two year seat, Mikulski got 1,841 votes to take the one available position. Dennis Whittie got 1,396 votes, Rolanda Kelley got 511 votes. Ad Maryanne Wessels got 374 votes. The winning candidates will be sworn in at the beginning of 2020.
