A Park Full of Smiles for Hilton Fall Festival
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 18, 2019)
Ferndale, MI- A community tradition continued as hundreds of kids (and grown-ups) gathered at Martin Road Park in Ferndale for the annual Ferndale Fall Festival.
There were pony rides and games, plenty of treats, and even a hayride through the park. Kids enjoyed face painting, bouncing in the inflatables, the rock climbing wall and more.
Firefighters and EMTs from Ferndale Fire Department were on hand with an engine to check out and a dummy to help teach kids and adults how to do chest compressions. Rather than traditional mouth-to-mouth CPR, a technique that requires only chest compressions is easy to teach, less intimidating to administer, and still makes a huge difference in saving lives.  This can be done to the beat of songs like “Stayin’ Alive,” or “Baby Shark.”
The event brought people of all ages together for some simple, community-centered fall fun.
