Bloomfield Hills, Franklin, MI –  The Franklin Cider Mill, located in Bloomfield Hills just past the Village of Franklin line, is, according to the painted sign on the building, “a family tradition.”
I made my first visit this week, arrival early in the day before the afternoon crowds.  There were plenty of spoiled (well-fed) ducks swimming around the pedestrian bridge leading from the parking lot to the mill.  And plenty of customers hungry for a variety of cider mill offerings.  Of course there were traditional items like cider, donuts, and applesauce. But there were also other Michigan-made and Franklin Cider Mill-made products like salad dressings, corn relishes, jellies, jams, honeys, and more.
Guests can watch the giant wheel being turned by the river.  Inside they can see workers on the apple press, separating the juice from the pulp.  They can also see the donuts being made, each one crafted on demand to be soft, warm, and fresh.  There is only one kind of donut, a spiced cake that is filling and yummy.
Franklin Cider Mill is located at7450 Franklin Rd Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301, at the corner of 14 Mile Rd and Franklin Rd, 1 Mile West of Telegraph.
They are always open the Saturday before Labor Day through the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
