Royal Oak Man Arrested for Series of Church Bomb Threats

Royal Oak, MI- On Sunday, October 6, 2019, Adam Robert Laird, of Royal Oak, was arraigned before Magistrate Clement Waldmann of the 52-3th District Court. Laird is charged with eight (8) counts of False Report or Threat of Terrorism, a felony which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison and one (1) count of Telecommunications Services-Malicious Use, a misdemeanor which carries a penalty of up to 6 months in jail.
Laird has no criminal convictions and his bond was set at $500,000.00 cash/surety, no 10%. His next scheduled court appearance is set for October 14, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Derek Meinecke of the 44th District Court.

Church Bomb Threats
Early this afternoon the Royal Oak Police Department began receiving multiple reports from local churches reporting a bomb threat. On October 4, 2019, between 12:28 p.m. and 2:53 p.m., nine separate churches reported receiving the threats. Each threat was sent to the church via email and they immediately contacted police.
