Lake Orion DDA’s Pam Belding Leaves to Pursue Writing Career
Pam Belding, administrative coordinator for the Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority, has turned in her resignation. Since 2017 she’s run the office, events, website and for a while, the social media for the DDA, but now she says it’s time to explore new horizons.
“After some serious soul-searching, and talking with my family, I realize the book I am currently writing, The Fortify & Protect Yourself Guidebook, needs my full attention to be finished.  After I leave, I plan to fully commit my time and energy to get the book written and published. That also includes putting together my new website and a presentation about the book to be given at local libraries, wellness centers and other places of healing and learning as a way to help people see who they are and what they need to create a life worth living.
“I have sincerely enjoyed working in Downtown Lake Orion for the past two and a half years. During my time, I’ve been proud to witness the growth and progress of our program, including winning two Spirit of Main Street Awards from Oakland County, completion of the award-winning Flint Street Alleyway project, implementation of a new marketing strategy and hiring our marketing partners, New Moon Visions, installation of all new wayfinding signs, expansion of the Flower & Art Fair, growth of the Gazebo Concert Series and the DIA programs bringing even more art into Downtown. I was also lucky to witness the completion of the Paint Creek Trail Extension project which, after 20+ years, now connects Downtown Lake Orion to our neighbor, Rochester.”
“It has been my pleasure to work with the Executive Director, Molly LaLone. I’ve never met anyone with tireless dedication to economic development, and community collaboration, as Molly. Her drive to create a positive difference, along with her stamina to get the job done, is truly inspiring and I will sincerely miss working with her.
“Without a doubt, I’ll miss working with all of the people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, including the DDA Board and volunteers, the Village staff, Downtown businesses and organizations as well as all the folks of Main Street Oakland County. It’s been my deepest honor to have met these truly generous, warm, wonderful people who love their community. My decision to resign was made knowing I’m leaving Lake Orion in their very capable hands.”
DDA Executive Director, Molly LaLone wrote in a letter to the DDA Board
“Pam has been a tireless advocate and public promotions speaker the entire time she has been working for Downtown Lake Orion. No words can express how much her effervescence will be missed here. Please join me in wishing her well.”
