Gerald Poisson Sworn in as County Executive, Commission to Appoint Patterson’s Replacement
Pontiac, Mich – Chief Deputy County Executive Gerald D. Poisson was sworn in as Oakland County executive Saturday at 5:00 p.m. by Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown. Pursuant to Public Act 139 of 1973, Poisson will assume the duties of county executive until the Board of Commissioners appoints a replacement. If the board does not appoint a successor for County Executive L. Brooks Patterson within 30 days, the law mandates a special election be held.
Poisson has served as the Chief Deputy County Executive since 2009.  Through his career Poisson has worked as a Criminal Investigator, a trial attorney in the Prosecutor’s office, Corporation Counsel for Oakland County, and increasing responsibilities from Assistant Deputy County Executive, to Deputy, and finally to Chief Deputy.
Executive Patterson died Saturday morning at the age of  80.
