Overnight Closures on I-75 Needed to Set Bridge Beams at Wattles Road
(Michigan Dept. of Transportation, June 26, 2019)
Troy, MI-  Weather permitting, crews will close both directions of I-75 during the overnight hours starting Thursday, June 27. The full closures will occur between Big Beaver Road and Corporate Drive/Crooks Road and are needed for setting new bridge beams on the overpasses at Wattles Road and Corporate Drive. The full closures will begin at 9:30 p.m. each evening. Both directions of I-75 will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. the following mornings.
  The dates for the overnight closures are as follows:
Thursday, June 27;
Monday, July 1 and;
Tuesday, July 2.
During the full closures, northbound traffic will use Big Beaver Road to Crooks Road, then westbound M-59 back to northbound I-75. Southbound drivers will use Corporate Drive/Crooks Road then 14 Mile Road back to southbound I-75.
This $224 million project involves reconstructing more than 8 miles of pavement, improving 18 structures, upgrading drainage, constructing community-developed aesthetics and federally approved noise walls, and continuing construction of an additional travel lane between Coolidge Highway and 13 Mile Road.
The entire I-75 modernization project involves rebuilding approximately 18 miles of pavement, replacing bridges, adding a high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane in each direction, and bringing the freeway up to current design standards from north of M-102 (Eight Mile Road) to South Boulevard. Follow I-75 modernization progress on the web at www.Modernize75.com, or follow on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Modernize75 or on Twitter at www.twitter.com/Modernize75.
