Reporter Food: The Corner in Downtown Ferndale
(Crystal A. Proxmire, June 10, 2019)
Ferndale, MI- Ferndale Pride gave me not one, but two, opportunities to try The Corner which is located at the corner of W. 9 Mile Road and Planavon.
In the morning I had a junior reporter and her mother with me as we used a spot on the patio for strategizing, and for tasting fantastic little fried donuts and lemonade.
Later in the day I ran into another friend, and we decided to have dinner there.
We shared some grilled cauliflower seasoned with lemon and thyme. For the main course I had the chicken sandwich, which came fried in buttermilk batter and served on a ciabatta with house slaw, provolone, tomato, and kewpie mayo. I don’t know that I could adequately describe the way the flavors came together, but they absolutely did.
My friend had the house-smoked sticky ribs with jalapeño and mango slaw.
The location was a perfect place to enjoy the event, with a central location and plenty of windows. The food and the service were wonderful. The Corner is also known for their board game collection, and it will be fun to go back on a day that is not the busiest of the year to check those out. Plus there is axe-throwing upstairs.
The Corner is located at 344 W. 9 Mile Road. Check them out online at https://www.thecornerferndale.com/
